Service

The refuge offers the public a chance to view a variety of habitats in which wildlife thrives on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The refuge has a full service staffed Visitor Center with restrooms, interpretive exhibits, pollinator garden, observatory, and bookstore (operated by the Friends of Blackwater). Outdoor facilities include the Wildlife Drive (suitable for all auto, foot, and bicycle traffic), an elevated observation deck, a photo blind, walking trails, and paddling trails. Programs for school, scout, and civic organizations are available with advanced notice, and subject to staff availability. Please note that Blackwater does not accept wildlife for rehabilitation. Please use our street when using GPS navigation.

Hours of Operation

Visitor Center open Tuesday through Sunday 10:00am – 4:00pm; closed Monday and Federal holidays. Wildlife Drive open daily, year round, from dawn to dusk.

Fees

Wildlife Drive- $3 per vehicle. Pedestrian/Bicyclist – $1.00 per person
