Founded in 1983 as St. Martin’s Barn by the Benedictine Sisters of Ridgely, MD, Martin’s House & Barn provides a safety net for individuals and families needing special support during difficult times in their lives. They not only provide essential shelter, food, and clothing to those in need but also help clients find resources to overcome barriers to self-sufficiency. SOAR is a national program designed to increase access to Social Security Insurance (SSI)/ Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) for adults who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness and have a mental illness, medical impairment, and/or a co-occurring substance use disorder.
