Chesapeake College provides adult education programs to residents in Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s, and Talbot counties. Classes include English as a Second Language, Adult Basic Education and GED® Test Preparation classes. Students wishing to enroll in classes must first attend a registration session. During registration the student's current skill level will be evaluated for the proper class placement. The registration schedule can be found by calling the hotline numbers or on the calendars on the website. Weekly registrations are held at locations throughout the five county area. In Caroline County registration is held on Wednesdays at 10:00 am at the Caroline County Public Library, 100 Market Street in Denton; and on Wednesdays at 6:00 pm at the Maryland Rural Development Corporation, 101 Cedar Lane, and on Thursdays at 10:00 am at the Federalsburg Public Library, 123 Morris Ave..
Employment services (see Caroline County Career Center), Temporary Cash Assistance, Welfare Avoidance Grants, Emergency Assistance to Families with Children, Child Care Subsidy, Temporary Disability Assistance, Public Assistance to Adults, Food Supplement Program benefits, Medical Assistance, and Long Term Care Medical Assistance. There is a Burial Assistance program that helps qualified families with burial costs for loved ones. There is a Spanish interpreter available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 - 1:00 to assist in completing the application for the Food Supplement Program. Call for application procedure.
A full range of outpatient mental health services are offered to Caroline County residents including: psychiatric evaluation, individual group and family therapy for adults adolescents and children, medication management, nursing services, information/referral services, school based therapy services provided in some public schools. Services are provided by an experienced staff of psychiatrists, nurses, social workers and a welcoming support staff. Evening hours available by appointment only. The Chesapeake Multicultural Resource Center is open to all community members and provided quality information and referral services for recent immigrants on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. CCHS offers comprehensive family practice internal medicine, pediatrics, family dental care, women's health, and behavioral health services through its 5 Medical and 4 Dental Centers on the Mid-Shore. The Migrant Health Project provides outreach services to meet the special needs of the migrant population. School-Based health services are provided in 9 Caroline County schools and 4 Talbot County schools. Oral health services are also available through School-Based programs in all three Counties. For All Seasons, Inc., offers a full continuum of trauma certified mental health, psychiatric, rape crisis, advocacy, and case management services, to English and Spanish speaking children, adolescents and adults across the 5 counties of the Mid-Shore, regardless of one's ability to pay. FAS also provides 24/7 Spanish and English rape crisis hotlines and responds to local emergency rooms and law enforcement agencies for victims of sexual assault, trauma and abuse. Provides free in person assistance for navigating the Maryland Healthcare Exchange during the open enrollment dates - November 1 - January 31. They can help you compare plans or review or renew a plan you already have.
Provides a variety of services to victims of domestic abuse. These include a 24 hour hotline, crisis intervention at hospitals and police stations, counseling and support, a shelter, assistance with legal proceedings, information and referrals, outreach and assistance for Spanish speaking victims, transitional assistance, intervention and prevention to community, and prevention education in the schools. Speakers are available for community education and training. There is an Abuser Intervention Program. Volunteers accepted. Cell phone donations are accepted.
