Services Provided: 

Operates a thrift shop and a food pantry. Proceeds from the thrift shop fund the food pantry. If you are in need of food or clothing, please contact the Samaritan House directly and have ready the following 4 pieces of information: photo id; social security card for everyone in the household; proof of income (tax return, paystubs); and proof of Caroline County residency (utility bill, bank account).

Accepts donation of used clothing, books, toys, and household items in good condition. Recommended food list: tuna, beef stew, pork & beans, corned beef, soup, cereal, jello/pudding, canned milk, rice/beans, canned fruit & vegetables, applesauce, canned tomatoes, spaghetti sauce, dry spaghetti, peanut butter, jelly, juices, and box mixes of macaroni & cheese and tuna helper. The Samaritan House is a project of the interfaith group United Concerned Christians, and is run completely by volunteers. It is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Services Provided: 

SOAR is a national program designed to increase access to Social Security Insurance (SSI)/ Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) for adults who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness and have a mental illness, medical impairment, and/or a co-occurring substance use disorder. Local agencies that have SOAR trained staff include Alliance, Chesapeake Voyagers, Crossroads Community, Community Behavioral Health, Mid Shore Behavioral Health, the Neighborhood Service Center, St. James Zion Church. Services Provided: 

The sports that are offered are: in the fall, soccer and power lifting; in the winter, basketball; in the spring, aquatics, boccie; in the summer, cycling, kayaking, and golf. All sports are available at no or minimal cost to the athletes. Travel outside the county for practices may be necessary.

Sweet Caroline is more than just a song it's a movement. Sweet Caroline was created to help families in need and to better our community and those among it. Over 32,000 people take up residence within Caroline County alone. We would like to ensure that no family or community goes without; our love goes beyond our county lines. There are many that need assistance due to medical, and personal reasons, imagine being able lend a hand to those around us and helping to spread kindness along the way.

The United Way of Caroline County provides financial support to a broad range of programs and services that promote the quality of life where we live. The United Way supports a variety of County and regional nonprofits that care for the young, old, needy, and those suffering from serious illness.
The United Way does not make direct grants to individuals. All fund are provided through agencies to support their missions.

Vehicles for Change accepts donated cars, repairs them while training returning citizens as auto mechanics, and awards roadworthy vehicles to working, low-income families. VSCOA is a nonprofit organization formed to serve the rural disabled and homeless Veteran community. Their PAWS (Partnering Animals With Soldiers) Program is dedicated to helping both homeless veterans and homeless animals. Visit their website for more information. Dinner every other Friday or Saturday at 5:00 (call to confirm). Public hall/meeting room available. Seats 250. Special features: air conditioning, podium, p/a system, kitchen and bar facility. Catering available through Ladies Auxiliary. Alcoholic beverages must be purchased through VFW. Ample parking around building. Handicapped-accessible. To reserve call post home. Awards two scholarships each year for graduating seniors that are going to attend Chesapeake College. Supports many local organizations through the proceeds of the slot machines.
