The Community Club of Preston was founded in 1923, and continues to be active as it nears its 100th anniversary. The Club meets the third Tuesday of the month from September through June, at 12 noon at the Community/Lions’ Club building, 114 Williamson Street, Preston, with some exceptions. Funds are raised by the Club through such activities as a Fashion Show/Luncheon and Christmas House Tour. Proceeds from their fundraisers go back in to the community via support of such groups and projects as the Preston Fire Department, Imagination Library for Caroline County, Partners In Care, CASA of Caroline County, local high school culinary departments, Power Purse ER Victims Project, Preston Elementary School, Colonel Richardson Middle School, and Colonel Richardson High School. The Club has purchased Christmas gifts for needy families, conducted a coat drive, and offers scholarships to graduating Colonel Richardson High School Seniors. The Club also installed and maintains the Little Free Library (#37123) at the James T. Wright Memorial Park in Preston. The Club is always looking for new projects to support, as well as for new members to help us accomplish our goal of supporting our local community. For more information regarding possible assistance, or if you are interested in joining the Club, call 410-310-5454.
