Service

Provides free home repair services to low-income, elderly, disabled, veterans and families with children who own their homes and are facing necessary but unaffordable house repairs. If the applicant does not qualify for the free Rebuilding Together service, they will be referred to other agencies for assistance. There is also a self-sustaining salvage operation where useable building materials, household goods, and working appliances are accepted as donations and re-sold at a low cost. The River Landing Salvage Depot (at the corner of River Landing Road and Bridge Street in West Denton) is open from 9 AM-12 Noon the 1st 3rd Saturdays of every month. for the collection and resale at very affordable prices – of donated, reusable building materials, fixtures and appliances. The environmentally-friendly Salvage Depot keeps reusable materials out of the landfill and provides some funds for the home repair/renovation work that our affiliate has been doing in Caroline County for the past nine years. Our new location right on the Choptank River highlights our mission to go green, save Caroline County homes and our vital riverway. Volunteers can do building work, haul materials or clean-up. Volunteers can also help sell useable building materials and working appliances or help accept donations. Volunteers are needed to guide applicants through the application process.

Service

A volunteer group that works independently to sew, crochet, knit, and quilt blankets size infant to teenager for donation to Maryland’s Ronald McDonald House. There are no specific requirement as to size, color, material, etc. These blankets are for the smallest preemie to a toddler to a pre-teen to an older teen. Each blanket has a customized label ‘Made with Tender Loving Care by Brianna’s Blankets’ sewn into it. The blankets provide comfort to seriously ill children receiving treatment in hospitals.

Animal care and control, animal rescue and rehabilitation, enforcement of local animal welfare laws and prosecution of animal cruelty, animal adoption, humane education programs, promoting responsible pet ownership. Spay and neuter program for County residents. Acts as a resource for people finding injured wildlife, such as birds or other animals, who want to know about agencies that provide wildlife rehabilitation. We are always looking for volunteers. Volunteers 14 or older may volunteer without a guardian. 10-14 year olds may volunteer with adult supervision. All volunteers must go through our volunteer orientation which is 9am the second Saturday of the month.Eligibility: There are eligibility requirements for the spay/neuter program and also for adopting an animal. Service

The Fraternal Order of Police holds fundraisers to benefit the community and donates the money to local organizations. They sponsor Little League teams, help with After Prom Parties, participate in holiday programs that benefit local families, and take on special projects based on community need. The group meets the 2nd Wednesday of the month on a bi-monthly basis at 6PM at private residences in Denton. There is a legal plan offered to sworn officers who are members.

Activities include but are not limited to music appreciation, physical fitness, wellness programs, arts and crafts, educational presentations, day trips, and special events. Seniors can also learn how to access the programs and services offered by Upper Shore Aging, Inc. in Caroline County. The Senior Center enjoys the support of many volunteers. Donations of cash or other gifts are used to expand Senior Center activities and programs, and are welcomed.
