Students wishing to enroll in classes must first attend a registration session. During registration the student’s current skill level will be evaluated for the proper class placement. The registration schedule can be found by calling the hotline numbers or on the website. Weekly registrations are held at locations throughout the five county area. In Caroline County registration is held Wednesdays at 6:00 pm at the Maryland Rural Development Corporation, 101 Cedar Lane. This is part of the National External Diploma Program.

Eligibility: 
English As a Second Language classes are available to all adults whose native language is other than English. Classes provide instruction in English language skills to non-English or limited English proficient adults and are offered at multiple levels from beginning to advanced Adult Basic Education and GED® Test Preparation classes are available to individuals we are at least 16 years of age and who are not a high school graduate or currently attending high school. Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes include instruction for learners at beginning and intermediate levels. GED® Test Preparation classes are for those who are in the final stages of preparing to take the GED® Test. Individuals must be a resident of the State of Maryland for at least 3 months to be eligible to take the GED® Test. The External Diploma Program (NEDP) is for individuals age 18 or older, who are not enrolled in regular high school and can demonstrate essential academic competencies and life skills. NEDP provides a unique way for adults to earn a Maryland high school diploma. Participants demonstrate high school level skills by applying work, family and community life experiences in real life situations. This is not a class-attendance based program. The program structure is self-paced and offers flexibility for busy adults. Individuals meet regularly with an NEDP advisor and assessor. NEDP is a computer- based program.

A one-time $150 fee is assessed for NEDP.
