Character Counts Mid Shore, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) Character Education organization serving Talbot, Dorchester and Caroline Counties in Maryland. We have been a member of the National Character Counts Coalition since 1996 and fully subscribe to their message that “Character Counts, Everywhere, All the Time”.

Character Counts Mid Shore, Inc, is a non-profit (501C3) community-based organization that works to espouse positive character development in every aspect of life. Non-political and non-religious, the organization’s mission is to provide and implement a citizen-driven character enrichment program to all citizens in Talbot Dorchester and Caroline Counties.Our message is based on the Six Pillars of Character – Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship. CCMS has partnerships with the public schools in Talbot, Caroline and Dorchester Counties.Our program in the public schools is called Winners Walk Tall. Volunteers are recruited and trained to be Character Coaches that visit classrooms for 15 minutes every week with positive character messages, stories, and activities. CCMS also holds an annual Laws of Life Essay Contest for middle and high school students to write essays reflecting on their use of one or more of the Six Pillars of Character. Cash prizes are awarded in addition to a $2500 scholarship. Each year a graduating senior in each county is awarded a $1000 Citizenship scholarship. CCMS is NOT funded by the school systems or any form of government.
Eligibility
CCMS is available to meet with service clubs, business and education groups, and other organizations to provide information and resources to infuse a message of character into their projects.
