The program serves 9 counties of the Eastern Shore for those with developmental disabilities and 7 counties for functionally disabled. The program reimburses families paying out of pocket for respite care. It is a service that helps families trying to keep their child or adult with them in the community.

Respite care is short-term relief for those taking care of a disabled child or adult. The program works with families to provide financial reimbursement, guidance, referrals to other appropriate services in their area. Families choose their own careworker, the only rule being someone in the same household cannot be used.
Eligibility
There is an application process that includes financial information and a medical statement to verify disability.
