The Talbot Interfaith Shelter (TIS) is an organization serving homeless individuals and families from Talbot County and surrounding areas. It is operated by staff and volunteers from local faith-based communities and other concerned citizens. Potential guests must agree to a background check and an interview with our Operations Manager for admission to the program. The Denton Police Department consists of 13 sworn police officers and 2 civilian administrative aides. Department is involved in a number of other programs besides answering police calls. The Department sponsors ball teams, and assists with Boy Scouts and other community groups. Also provides bike registration. Denton Police Department has a program for youths from ages 13-17 years old called the “Denton Explorers Programs.” They are an organization based on educational training and skill learning in order to further them in future endeavors of higher education whether it is law enforcement or other professions. Our Department also has a Med Return Drug Collection Unit (prescription drop off box) in our front lobby where folks can drop off unwanted prescriptions Mon-Fri 8:00 – 4:00. This is a good way to get rid of old/unwanted prescriptions to keep away from children and out of our water supply.

His Hope Haven accepts single men and women, as well as family groups, as guests. The shelter opens at 5:30 PM and guests are provided with dinner, breakfast the next morning, and a packed lunch. Shower facilities are available. Guests leave at 9 AM each morning. Guests without transportation are driven into Denton, and picked up there later. The drop off and pickup area is in the parking lot of the court house across from the Episcopal Church on Gay Street.

To provide emergency fire, rescue and EMS services to the citizens of Caroline and surrounding counties as needed. There is a Junior Cadet program for teenagers ages 12-15. Cadet program starts at age 16. Youth volunteers are accepted at ages 16-18 for Junior Fire Fighter, and those 18 and older can become full members. You must apply to the fire department for admission for their free fire or EMS training, and a background check is required. Persons interested in joining RVFD may print a membership application from our website at www.rvfd400.com and bring complete application to the fire department.
