The Retreat offers a safe harbor and sanctuary for adults experiencing a psychiatric crisis. As a voluntary alternative to hospitalization, The Retreat provides short term Residential Crisis Services in a community-based setting 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

In addition to Residential Crisis Services, The Retreat offers crisis counseling. The Retreat is appropriate as an alternative to psychiatric hospitalization or to shorten the length of a hospital admission. Anyone who is medically stable, under the care of a physician, and awaiting admission to a psychiatric unit can be safely cared for at The Retreat. Situated in a quiet community, their trained crisis staff offer counseling and therapeutic groups.

Share experiences in a safe place. Socialize and make new friends. This support group is for individuals who identify anywhere along the trans and non-conforming spectrum. Our goal is to create a safe supportive space where we can discuss day to day topics that are important to each of us.

A full range of outpatient mental health services are offered to Caroline County residents including: psychiatric evaluation, individual group and family therapy for adults adolescents and children, medication management, nursing services, information/referral services, school based therapy services provided in some public schools. Service

Adult program includes site and community based psychiatric rehabilitation services, supported employment, residential, and special support and assistance for those suffering from mental illness as the primary diagnosis. The Youth Program offers community based psychiatric rehabilitative services. Services are offered year round through after school and summer programming. Incorporated in the structured schedule are activities that encourage the youth to develop skills for working in groups and in peer relationships. A referral from a mental health provider is required. We have access to a language line as needed to assist with intakes and paperwork. We also have one staff member who can speak Haitian-Creole in the Youth program.
