Critical Repairs Caroline County, a local 501c3 nonprofit, provides essential home repairs or accessibility items to make it possible for low-income or very-low-income resident homeowners to remain safe and secure in their homes with a special focus on the disabled, veterans and families with children.

Typical critical repairs include:
– Handicapped ramps and entry modifications to enable the disabled to access their homes.
– Roof repairs and miscellaneous repairs to restore safety in the home.
– Minor plumbing repairs to provide safe drinking water.
– Modifications to bathrooms to provide accessibility for the disabled.

Critical Repairs Caroline County welcomes volunteers with skills in construction or assembly.

Hours of Operation: 8am – 8pm, Monday – Friday

Areas Served: Caroline County

Eligibility: Low-income to very low-income per HUD standards for Caroline County.

Fees: All repairs are provided at no cost to the resident homeowner.

The Preston Lions Club is a part of Lions Clubs International, a network of volunteers who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities. The Preston Lions Club supports youth and other activities, conducts vision and hearing tests in schools, and empower volunteers to serve their community.  If you are interested in renting the Preston Community Center, please call Gloria at 443-786-0324. Tuckahoe Equestrian Center

The Tuckahoe Equestrian Center is a ‘Family and Youth-Oriented’ organization located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in Tuckahoe State Park north of Route 404. We are a non-profit, 501 (c)(3) organization, actively promoting all equestrian activities such as 4-H, youth activities, games days, trail riding, driving, jousting, parades, and horse shows which include jumping, dressage, and English or Western equitation.

Tuckahoe Equestrian Center features a barn with several stalls, a clubhouse, tree-shaded picnic area, a 300′ x 150′ outdoor arena with a permanent raised announcer’s stand, lighted jousting path, permanently installed audio system which covers the entire equestrian center grounds, and 15 miles of trails throughout the state park. Color-coded trail maps and trail guides are available at the Tuckahoe State Park office on Eveland Road.


Fees are $30/year for individual membership or $40/year family membership.

Caroline County Historical Society

The Caroline County Historical Society is dedicated to preserving and restoring historical artifacts and buildings, as well as educating the public about the history of the County.

The Historical Society is at work on a project “Preserving Old Caroline”, which seeks to document, stabilize, relocate, market, restore and salvage numerous historic structures throughout the county. Some of these buildings will be relocated to the evolving Linchester Mill project, or the new “ArtsWay” in Denton. Other buildings will be sold and restored by private owners with the assistance of the Historical Society. In addition, they are working in conjunction with the Tourism Office on creating a tourism infrastructure and plan to use small buildings as tourist information points, such as kiosks and visitor reception buildings. The Museum of Rural Life, run by members of the Historical Society, is open to the public. It acts as a repository of Caroline County artifacts. There is a mailing list notifying members of annual meetings and special fundraising events. Individuals and school groups are invited to tour the Museum.
